I figured not.

[ Squall let out a soft hum, pushing the door open the rest of the way with his back. His hands were full with a tray full of food, something to drink, and a little snack of the adorable bat friend. He wasn’t alone either. There was a little jingle of a bell belonging to a little kitten that follows behind him. ]

I figured you might be hungry.

[He gives Riku a tiny head tilt. ]

[ Catching sight of the small kitten jingling their way in the room, it's the mention of food that gets the silver-haired teen to glance up then, eyes blinking in surprise. This... isn't really anything that either of them have done for the other as of late? Granted, things are... a little different between them now but, still. ]

You didn't have to.

[ Yet he sits up a little, back pressed against the pillow, book coming to rest in his lap. ]

I mean... thanks.

[ That little comment gets a soft sound of amusement from Squall. It was probably strange seeing him doing something like this instead of Sora or even Arden, but... Squall just wanted to. He didn't have a hidden motive or any kind of plan. He just... wanted to. ]

You're right, I didn't have to, but...

[ And maybe he might want a little company. Squall was stubborn when he was hurt, and he tried to hide away when he was in pain, but he knows deep down even a little company would have been nice.

He moved toward the bed, sitting down on the edge of it. He turned until most of his leg was on the bed as he held out the tray to sit down before Riku. There was a warm cup of tea, a sandwich cut down the middle. He wasn't really sure what Riku might actually enjoy eating so along with the sandwich was some junk food like chips and and some flavored bread as well.

The kitten with a round belly struggles a little but ends up climbing up on the bed mewing softly with a bright red bow around his neck.]

[ But... yeah. He gets it, kinda; Riku not exactly being one to openly ask for company, even with Sora. That's more a gentle tug he'll give to his hand or nonchalantly ask for his head to be rubbed. Just Riku things, really.

When the kitten climbs up, Komory Bat drops down from the headboard and putters around near it, wings still tucked behind its back as it curiously looks to the small thing, not meaning it any harm. Just curious.

Riku, on the other hand, looks to the tray of food brought to him and, after a moment of what seems like considering it, he reaches for half of the sandwich and looks it over, taking a bite after. ]

New pet?

[ As he gestures with his chin to the kitten. ]

Guessing Roxas is ok with it.

[ The kitten didn't seem frightened by the bat. Instead he seemed rather curious. He sniffed at him a few times before giving the bat an affectionate headnudge. He was used to strange creatures, since he grew up thinking Squall's chocobo was a strange cat herself. ]

Mmm. I wasn't sure he'd allow it, but I guess since he's so small, he didn't mind.

[ Squall glances down at the kitten with a small smile on his lips. He was glad Roxas was willing to let him. Out of everything, if he said no that might have been what made Squall want to leave the house. The kitten meant a lot to him. ]

Still working on a name. The previous holder and I never really settled on a name for him and Sora says I'm terrible at naming things.

[ That might just get him to snort a little, eyes falling shut with an amused smile gently touching his lips. ]

Like he's one to talk.

[ It's not like Sora is some Grand Master of naming pets or something. ]

Just name him whatever you want. See if he likes it.

That's.. actually what Roxas said too.

[ Which only made Squall try to hide his silent laughter behind a hand. From the sound of it, Sora was no better at naming things than he was. That was somewhat of a relief. It almost made him wonder if Riku was any better...

He probably was.]

I don't know if it would be too cheesy, but I was thinking something that meant light. In honor of the friend who left.

[ Gently coming to take a bite from the sandwich brought to him, he leans back a bit and gives a rather thoughtful look up to the ceiling. ]

Light, huh?

[ There was a time where he was afraid of that. Or... didn't think himself worthy of it, nevermind being around it. ]

Spark sounds too close to Spark which is like something for a dog.

I already have a chocobo who thinks she's a cat. I don't need a cat that thinks he's a dog.

[ That gets a small laugh out of Squall though. He stretched out his arms a little before using his hands to lean backward into the bed. ]

Or maybe you do. You know, balance it out.

[ He might just smile a little at the thought while he takes another bite of his food. ]

This place is so full of pets.

[ The kitten with the round belly bats playfully at his new bat friend, trying to tackle him with his tiny cat paws. ]

Isn't it? I wasn't even going to get Raine when the chocobos were born, but Sora insisted that if everyone in the house deserved to have a pet and since I was the last one without a pet...

[ Good thing Komory Bat is rather friendly and playful. ]

I feel liek Roxas deserves a gigantic gift basket of stuff for the holidays with all he puts up with around here.

Yeah, I feel like that's something all of us should chip in to do. If it's not a zoo, it's the house getting destroyed one way or another.

[ Squall snorts softly, glancing up at the ceiling. ]

Seems like it.

[ To which he might smile a little, finishing up with his sandwich after. ]

You get burned or something by your amulet, too?

Not this time around.

[ Squall tilts his head to look back to Riku again. ]

Back when Machina and his.. friend(???) decided to take down the establishment or whatever they were doing, they struck at Sosyne who I'm connected with. For the rest of that day I felt sick to my stomach and felt this burning sensation.

[ There was a small pause and a soft sigh slipping passed his lips. ]

I figured with what happened to yours... well it probably hurt a hell of a lot worse. Thank Hyne you seem fine now...

[ Oh... right. Machina and that whole... ~~fuckery~~ thing. Truth be told, he hasn't really dealt with Machina since that first real encounter between them when he arrived within this world and yeah, they live in the same house, but they typically keep to themselves... much like he and Squall have in the past.

However, looking over to Squall then, he blinks for a moment. ]

Hyne?

What?

[ Squall blinked a few times, realizing what he said. He rubbed the back of his neck looking slightly embarrassed. ]

Oh ah... Hyne, is said to be the one who brought magic into my world or something like that.

[ Well that's something he can say he's never heard before? ]

So like... a god or something?

Something like that. I don't really think much of it. It's kind of one of those "legends" that get spread around and then everyone just accepts it.

Does this mean you're going to tell me a story so I sleep better?

You mean my company isn't boring you enough as it is?

[ Squall flashes him a small smile. His sense of humor was a little... off. ]

Well I didn't want to come out and say it like that.

[ Is he teasing? He might be teasing. ]

[ Squall shifts around on the bed. A hand moving to his face to try and hide his amusement. ]

I half expect you to be snoring any minute now.

Don't tempt me.

[ And he might just settle back a little more at that. ]

If you're tired, go ahead. I know feeling that connection break off... it definitely wears you out.

[ Squall scoots back on the bed a little more. ]
